uniGPT and studiGPT
the data privacy-friendly chatbots of the University of Graz
uniGPT is the AI-powered chatbot for employees of the University of Graz and has been available since May 2024. In May 2025, a dedicated version for students, studiGPT, was launched. Both AI chatbots are operated in a secure environment within the university’s Microsoft Cloud. uniGPT and studiGPT leverage AI-based language models from various providers, such as OpenAI, Mistral, and Meta, to communicate with users via text-based messages. As AI chatbots, they are designed to respond in natural language."
uniGPT and studiGPT differs from other AI chatbots in three key aspects:
- Any data entered into uniGPT/studiGPT is not used to train AI models by OpenAI, Mistral, Meta, Microsoft, or other AI companies.
- All data entered into uniGPT/studiGPT is processed within the EU. This means that employees and students of the University can use the chatbots in a secure environment.
- uniGPT/studiGPT have fewer or different features compared to other available AI chatbots. However, both chatbots are equipped with the key features necessary for daily use.
